Are there any running costs?
No — the only consumable is the sharpening cone.
How long does the cone last?
On average 1–2 years, depending on frequency of use.
Can I change the cone myself?
Absolutely. With the included wrench, replacement takes just a few moments.
Do I need special training to use InstRenew?
Only basic knowledge of instrument types is required — knowing the difference between universal and Gracey curettes, and between scalers and curettes.
Which instruments can be sharpened?
All prophylaxis scalers and curettes from any manufacturer, as long as the shaft can be gripped by the clamp.
Note: TiN-coated instruments cannot be sharpened.
For instruments with titanium working ends, always use a separate cone to avoid steel particle transfer (this applies to manual sharpening as well).
Does it work with instruments from other brands?
Yes, the vast majority of prophylaxis instruments from different manufacturers can be sharpened with InstRenew.
How long does sharpening take?
With a bit of practice, sharpening a double-ended instrument takes only 1–2 minutes.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — every InstRenew comes with a 2-year warranty from the date of invoice.
